The Roughneck Training program puts a strong emphasis on hands-on training and safety is of paramount importance.  What makes Maritime Drilling Schools Limited unique is their ability to train individuals from all walks of life and they have successfully graduated students who previously worked as teachers, military members, trade persons, general labourers and many more.  The training is also adaptive and evolving in congruence with the oil industry that is shifting from more hands on work to automated and electronic functions.

The oil/petroleum industry globally entails exploring, extracting, refining, and marketing oil products.  Primarily the petroleum market is used to supply gasoline and fuel oil but it is also used in many chemical products like pesticides, plastics, fertilizers, solvents, and pharmaceuticals.  Most typically the industry divides into three components: downstream, midstream, and upstream.

Oil is a vital resource to many industries and first world countries and their economies rely heavily upon the oil industry for energy.  It’s reliance is minimal in Europe and Asia with only 32% of oil going to energy but is maximized in the Middle East where over half of the energy used comes from oil at 53%.

Other regions throughout the globe consume petroleum in the following patterns:

%

Central & South America

%

Africa

%

North America

The United States government gives significant public subsidies to oil companies and gives major tax breaks on equipment and oil field leases covering virtually every aspect of the industry from extraction to marketing.

The world, on average, consumes 30 billion barrels of oil per year which has the largest countries consuming the most.
